There is HOPE!

Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome, Mast Cell Activation Syndrome, Dysautonomia Syndrome

Life can be hard- but it's 1000 times harder when you're dealing with any or all of these syndromes. This has been my story- trudging through life thinking "why does everything always feel so hard?". I wasn't diagnosed with h-EDS until 2018 (see more of my story in about me) so I spent most of my life thinking I just had to push harder. After all, everyone else was living their life seemingly unruffled. I didn't realize it was abnormal to feel the way I felt every day of my life. In constant pain, dealing with depressive episodes, having unrelenting fatigue- I thought I just had to suck it up- get stronger- push through. When I was finally diagnosed, I was thankfully already on my journey to much more healing but the diagnosis gave me a frame to help direct my research to figure out how to help myself- to know what to do next and then how to help others.
I have learned through my process that the gut microbiome is the foundation for health and even more so when you have one of these conditions. The more empowered I became with the right knowledge about gut health, the healthier I have become.
Check out this link for a free educational presentation from Kiran Krishnan so you can become empowered as well!

Hypermobile EDS

There are many types of EDS but I specialize in helping people with hypermobile EDS or joint hypermobility disorders (see criteria here). These are conditions that affect the connective tissue (provides support, protection and structure in your body) and people with this condition have issues that prevent this connective tissue from working properly. This may show up as joint laxity or hypermobility as in the criteria listed above, and it can cause a whole host of other issues in our bodies like fatigue, pain, autoimmunity, mast cell issues, dysautonomia, and the list goes on and on. This is a great resource from the EDS Society that describes the symptoms very well.

Mast Cell Activation Syndrome

The mast cells are the sentinels of our immune system and when they go awry, they can cause a whole host of effects that are very difficult to live with. This can look like insomnia, chronic pain, food sensitivities, chemical sensitivities, gut issues, autoimmunity, skin issues, hormonal issues, blood sugar and other metabolic issues, sinus issues, lung issues, and the list goes on and on. Please see this article from Mast Cell 360 for a very comprehensive explanation and list of symptoms as well as this list from Dr Tanya Dempsey that looks at how each organ is affected by this syndrome.

Dysautonomia

Our autonomic (or automatic) nervous system controls many behind the scenes things in our bodies. Things like digestion, heart rate, blood pressure, temperature regulation, sleep cycles, breathing- these are all controlled without us having to think about it. When someone has dysautonomia, all of these functions can become dysregulated and can a lot of discomfort and difficulty for that person. This can happen for many reasons but for people with h-EDS and MCAS, this can be a fellow traveller. Dysautonomia International has a great summary as well as some symptoms of this syndrome.

If you are dealing with any or all of these symptoms/diagnoses, please reach out for a Discovery Session to find out how working with me may help you move forward into more health, healing, and a life of thriving. You can step into living a more abundant life with less symptoms- there is hope!!
